Figured if a bit of grip tape is good for the front strap, why not make some grips out of it too, since I'm trying to get the slimmest full size 1911 I can. Traced my grips onto paper, test fitted them, made adjustments, then copied them to the grip tape. Removed the bushings(woah tight in there). Cut some sheet tin to cover the large void under the grips and laid the grips over the tin onto the frame. I'll try to get some better pix with a real cam instead of my camera phone.
Feels alot better and took more than 1/2 an inch off the grip. Here's how it was.

Next thing to do will be trade out the ambi wide thumb safety for a left side only standard thumb safety. I think I'll be happy with it after that.
