Figured if a bit of grip tape is good for the front strap, why not make some grips out of it too, since I'm trying to get the slimmest full size 1911 I can. Traced my grips onto paper, test fitted them, made adjustments, then copied them to the grip tape. Removed the bushings(woah tight in there). Cut some sheet tin to cover the large void under the grips and laid the grips over the tin onto the frame. I'll try to get some better pix with a real cam instead of my camera phone.

Feels alot better and took more than 1/2 an inch off the grip. Here's how it was.

Next thing to do will be trade out the ambi wide thumb safety for a left side only standard thumb safety. I think I'll be happy with it after that.

Now that's thin! I'll have to try that during my next detail strip just for grins. :D

Shot 150 rounds through it this weekend, Felt great, my groups improved and the tape held up very well. I'll try to get some better pictures of it this evening.

Still no better pictures of the grips, but here are a few targets I shot last night. 250 rounds and the tape is still holding its ground.
