I am looking to buy the 1911a1 GI model with the govt sights and parked finish. What can I get one of these guns for. I live outside of St. louis if that matters

I picked mine up just recently for $399 at Martin B. Retting in Culver City, California. I'd pick yours up ASAP as we won't be allowed to buy them past a certain date since the GI's don't have a loaded chamber indicator (this may only be CA state law though).

$459 at Gander Mountain for the stainless. I think $419 for parkerized. BTW, you won't be disappointed. Fired mine for the first time yesterday. Dang near as good as my Kimber. Kept everything in 4" at 12 or so yards offhand (pretty good for me). Managed to get a few in a 3" Shoot 'n See at 25 yards as well. Fed and fired about 75 rounds of Win 230 ball and about 25 rounds of my light 200 gr semi wadcutter target reloads. No failures or FTE's of any sort. Cases were dirty though and some slightly dented at the case mouth but overall no problems. Probably the best gun for the money I ever bought. The only thing I may change are the sights as they are miniscule, but if you take your time even those aren't bad. In fact I may go buy the parkerized one now just to keep my stainless one company.- :) :) :)

Got mine for $419 at a local dealer/reloading supplier. I expected it to be a rattle trap with questionable accuracy (that I could use as a base for a conversion kit or a as a plinking gun), but I have found that I really like it. I need better sights, of course, but other than that it really performs well.

There was a guy in Virginia selling one for $325 with 13 GI mags a couple of weeks ago, no box or anything else. Had the "U.S." stamped grips.

I paid 399 for mine, then changed jobs and one my now current co-workers is a gun dealer and his cost is 369, so i guess about 400 to 420 is a pretty good deal. If you can't find it for that or less, I would look around more.

I just purchased a GI issue 1911 yesterday for $460, and upon going to a different gunstore/range today to fire my other gun I found the same GI 1911 for $399! These prices were found in San Diego. I did call the store with cheaper price and apparently the staff at the time didn't quote me prices correctly stating the cheapest SA 1911 they had was $700+. I lost out on a savings of $60 and the store lost a sale an account of an ill informed clerk. My advice go to the store when shopping for prices!
