Is it true that Parkerized finishes dont endure the rigors of CC well?

I have spoken to a couple folks that have told me If I am to get a 1911 for CC not to get the Parkerized and to go with something along the lines of SS. Problem is, Ive never liked the flash of SS and I think it makes them look like a toy.

If I do the Vaseline shake and bake thing can I help the Parkerization endure it better or were the fellows I was speaking with incorrect in this assertion?

thanks

No matter the finish, or what you do with it...if the gun will go in a holster, it will see some finish wear. No way around it.

It's not that bad....some think it's rather stately!

Wichaka is correct! However if you keep the parked finish well lubricated, it will impede the wear marks on the gun. I also use a thin layer of Bore Butter ( Black Powder Lube, which is animal fat treated not to go rancid) on the inner side of my holsters. Petroleum products, shoe polish, vaseline etc, will soften a leather holster and cause it to lose it's boning.

Best of Luck!
