on an Essex G.I. parked frame with a 1937-38 Colt military slide (wonder where the matching frame is now?) and a military "779" post war barrel and all the G.I. small parts. it was fairly straight forward only fitting was nipping about 5/32nds or so off the middle finger of the mainspring the one that loads the disconnector and all was right with everything. learned a few things in the process. the frame was easy to work with was told by an individual that they were a hassel to work with but it was basically plug and play everything fell right in. i'd like to build another with a military hardslide. regards

Nice project.

One minor nit to pick: The three-finger spring is the sear spring, not the mainspring. The mainspring is the coil spring that goes in the ... "mainspring housing."

thanks Hawkmoon, i thought i might have been calling it by the wrong nomenclature.

Hi Stuart:

Have you had a chance to shoot it yet?

i put 1 round down the pipe to test it out, it fire ejected and cycled without a hicup but i will be putting it through it's paces next weekend and will report back with results. regards

If you've not already done the linkdown timing tests http://www.m1911.org/testkit.htm from our Tech Issues section, they should be done to insure you've got proper barrel/slide clearance and VIS contact.

How much vertical lug engagement did you end up with?
