Is there anything out there that shows what each manuf. uses for parts on their pistols? I just bought two new .45s (Series 70 repro & Mil-Spec Springfield 1911) and was curious which components are not as robust as others. Specifically I was looking at the Cylinder & Slide Trigger set and was wondering if the I really needed to change out the sear spring or if I could just buy the sear and hammer. I figured the Colt would be a little different from the Springfield.

I don't think there is a single source that would detail the composition of each part. Forged, cast or MIM parts in the guns you have are of good quality. Robust? Don't use them for driving tent stakes and you will be OK. Do a search in the forums for "fluff and buff". You will find lots of ideas about making good parts better without replacing them. If you decide to replace the innards on either or both pistols, PM me. I'd be interested in the factory stuff. BTW, most will agree that Colt sear springs are as good or better than any other.
