View Full Version : Drop in beavertail. How much movement?

Hey guys,

I installed a drop-in beav (wilson) into my Officer's lightweight. I had to file a good bit to get it in. It works fine but I sort of feel like it doesn't have enough movement. It certainly has less than the Ed-Browns in my other guns. But it does have some movement and is easy to engage. Should I keep whittling?

As viewed from the left side of the gun, the GS's CCW motion should be halted by contact between the tab on its bottom and the tab on top of the MSH. If its CCW motion is halted prior to this by contact between the nose of the grip safety and the trigger bow, full engagement will not be attained.

Refer to the "How Trigger Parts Interact" for pics.

Well, it seems to check out in terms of function. Maybe there is just a little less range of motion in this GS.

CCW - Concealed Carry Weapon?
Context is necessary to comprehend the acronyms, as CCW in this case is counter clock wise.

I didn't know a grip safety could move counter clockwise.......or even clockwise for that matter.

Geez, been workin on these things for going on a 1/4 century and never knew such a thing was possible.

Sorry for the confusion. Was trying to describe its motion around the thumb safety pin with the CCW description - should have just said "released", I guess.

The idea was to get the GS nose down far enough behind the trigger bow so it's not just barely blocking the trigger's aft movement by a mere whisker of contact. The pix in Tech Issues seems to show about 1/16" of blocking contact.
