Remington Rand 916,405 to about 995,000: Du-Lite blue over a very fine sand blasted surface. The whole pistol appears to be a flat blue gray color. Small parts are blue or sandblasted blued.
Remington Rand 995,000 end of production: Parkerized, also some sand-blasted blued are intermixed during the early production (upto 1,020,000). All small parts parkerized.

Unfortunately, that is not one of the original finishes, and was probably done in the 80's or prior when alot of surplus pistols were sold cheaply. Visit www.coolgunsite.com 1911 Gallery or www.model1911a1.com to view examples of military finish weapons.

Late in production Remington Rand changed something in their phosphate finish and the late pistols are a very slate grey with darker small parts.

You are right, seems like most after the late 2.3m range appear that way. :)
