I have a Colt New Agent and fired approx. 300 rounds through her. On the fourth round fired of the magazine there was a malfunction which happened a total of 4 times with different mags. The malfunction was that the slide stop lifted up just enough to catch the slide causing the slide to lock back. Is this an issue with the side stop of did I just make contact with the slide stop making it go up on accident. If the problem is the slide stop how can I fix it.
Thanks

Hello,
Did you ever disassemble the plunger tube assembly?

Kinda something you'll have to work out. It's not uncommon for a bullet ogive to bump some slide stop lugs and is also common for newer shooters to bump the slide stop during recoil. Check the lug and see if you can see any copper on the edge of it if so that's where it's bumping.

There is the possibility of the bullet hitting the slide stop and engaging it.
There is also the possibility that your hold could be hitting the slide stop and causing it to engage.
The slide stop is normally engaged by the follower coming to the top of the mag and pressing up on the lug of the slide stop, Thus raising it and engaging the stop in the slide.

Thanks all, I have not disassembled the plunger tube assembly. I do have a government model and this has never happened before. This is the first smaller frame 1911 I have fired. I thought it was me to begin with but will pay more attention to my grip and will see. Great advise
