Ok, I bought an Armscor .45 recently, and i've taken it to the range twice.

Both times i have had different problems in feeding the round and the slide locking back.

The first time i fired it, the slide would lock back without the last round being fed.

The second time i fired it, the slide would fail to lock back, and the round would fail to feed correctly.

I am using factory magazines, and the pistol gets a thorough cleaning after every session.

Any ideas? suggestions?

Hi: :wc: to the Forum.

The first time i fired it, the slide would lock back without the last round being fed.Three possibilities here:

• Bullet of cartridge in the magazine is bumping into the slide stop log, lifting up the slide stop prematurely.
• Slide stop plunger does not apply adequate pressure to the aft end of the slide stop's arm, allowing it to move up too easily.
• Thumb of shooting hand is lifting side stop arm.

The second time i fired it, the slide would fail to lock back, and the round would fail to feed correctly. These must be two separate problems, if I'm understanding you correctly. If so...

...Failure of the slide to lock back after the last round is fired is usually caused by the magazine follower failing to lift the the slide stop arm's lug up to engage it with the notch in the slide. See what's going on by removing the slide & barrel and insert an empty magazine to see the action inside.

...For "the round would fail to feed correctly" part, more info is needed - lots more:

• Where was the bullet when the gun jammed? Part way into the chamber, or stuck on the frame or barrel feed ramp?
• Was the rim of the case released from the magazine feed lips?
• If so, where was the case head located on the breech face in relation to the extractor and firing pin hole?

If you can re-create this jam, a picture of the front and back of the cartridge will be most helpful.

Also: What type of ammunition were you using?

well, i figured out why the slide was failing to lock back via your instructions. I have an extended release and i put my thumb on the safety when i shoot, which makes contact with the slide stop. that solves that problem.

About the jam, it is always the last round in the magazine if that makes any difference.

sometimes the round will feed tilting up and getting caught on the top of the chamber. Once it was a stove pipe, but that never happened but once. It double-fed twice as well. Most of the time the slide simply did not just close all the way and it seemed as if the round was getting properly feeding into the chamber. Although, it when i pulled the slide back to take a look, the round did not look to be caught up on any obstructions, but simply failed to feed.

About the jam, it is always the last round in the magazine if that makes any difference. That's a critical piece of info, and it makes all the difference in the world!

There's several causes of last round feeding problems, and one of the most common is a weak magazine spring - even in a new magazine. To see if the spring is the problem, disassemble the magazine and then assemble it with 2 rounds placed underneath the spring. If the feeding problems disappear, then you kno0w the spring(s) are the culprit.

Do have feeding problems with all the magazines, or just one of them?

I'm not familiar with the type of magazines Armscor supplies with their guns, but you might consider investing in a couple of genuine Colt 7 round, hybrid lip magazines. Brownells has them:http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/productdetail.aspx?p=4595&st=160114450&s=10558

Niemi I think the Armscor versions came with the Novak's just like the Rock's do. I agree with the mag as the culprit. A weak spring could also account for the failure to hold open after last round.

Some here have gone to using the standard 7 round mags exclusivly, due to problems with higher capacity mags and reliability.
