View Full Version : Sights for Nighthawk

I recently purchased a T3 Nighthawk with Heine straight 8 sights. These are tritium 2 dot configuration.
My Kinber CDP has Metroplight tritium sights which have a wider notch and are the 3 dot configuration. I like the wider/brighter sights.
Metroplight does not make a sight for the T3 and Nighthawk has offered to install Novak sighs.
I wonder if anyone has any experience with the Novaks and is their tritium insert any brighter than the Heine?
Thanks for your help and best wishes.

Both Novak and Heinie sights use Trijicon tritium vials so the brightness should be the same. Heinie now makes a 2-dot rear sight (for a 3-dot system) called the 3-D but the tritium dots are smaller and less bright than the front sight.

I don't know if the Heinie 3-D rear sight is available in a wide notch.

Dave: thanks for your reply and the link. I had looked at that sight and wondered if the 3 dot was available in their wide configuration.
I also like the brightness of the Metroplites. The Trijicon inserts in my Henie straight 8 are not nearly as bright as the Metro's in my Kimber. I can imagine the brightness could work against you, but my aging eyes need all the help they can get.
Have you any experience comparing Brightness of the Trijicons vs: Metroplites? Any idea if the Heine 3 dot is as bright as the Metro's?
Thanks again and best wishes.

The 3-dot Heinies are going to be the same brightness as the straight 8's. They have the same Trijicon tritium elements installed in them. IMO the rear sight tritium dots don't need to be as bright as the one in the front sight because it's faster to pick up the front sight dot if it stands out more than the rear.
Heinie uses smaller tritium elements in the rear sight than the Novak rear sight if that is any help to you. I don't have any practical experience with the Meprolight sights.

Dave; thanks again. I see the Metro's so much better than the Heinie trijicon's with my poor eyes.
Are you indicating that the NOvaks are more like the Metro's than the Heine's?
I don't mind if there is a contrast, front to rear, but would like a pretty bright insert overall.
Thanks again and best wishes.
