I felt I needed to post to bring more to light the AWESOMENESS of all the REAL help on this forum. I was checking out THR and could not believe the "advice" over there. Check this out http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=413224&goto=newpost ... All I've got to say is "I love you guys (and girls)". :appld:

Welcome bircky311. That's common at a lot of forums. There are only a handful of guys at THR who are worth listening to when it comes to 1911s. Most of them are also members here (one in particular is the reason I came here).

What the OP in that thread is describing is a Type III malfunction, commonly known as a Failure to Extract or double feed. It is almost always the result of a bad extractor. He said he replaced it, but has he checked it to insure it is functioning properly?

Next thing I would check requires a good gunsmith. He needs to have the chamber of the barrel checked to see if it is finish reamed to the right dimensions. Based on his description it sounds like the rounds might be sticking in the chamber.

After that it gets more complicated (expensive) and could be a problem with barrel fit. The barrel might not be dropping down out of lockup properly and is wedging the round in the chamber.
