So I finally took my new 1911A2 shooting yesterday. Wow that gun is accurate :D. Anyway I started at about ten feet out (They have automated targets and what I presume are feet line markers along the wall) and it shot nice tight groups only about two inches low. I moved to 20 ft then 40 feet. It still seemed like it was low but there was a lot of holes at that point :). I put up a new target at 40 feet and it seemed point of aim - point of impact.
The only problem I encountered was at about 150 rounds ( I shot 300 total) the slide would not go all the way forward. It would close about half way, showing approximately a 1/4 inch of brass between the magazine and the chamber. A simple tap rack bang usually fixed it. Actually just slapping the bottom of the magazine was enough to seat the round. My question is is this common with a new Rock? I put a pretty liberal amount of MILTEC1 lube on the gun before I shot, I don't think I put any in the barrel/chamber.

The only real problem is now I want to go shooting again :( and I don't get paid for a week.

Congrats on the new Rock, I'd break it down clean and lube it good and take a good look at the worn spots.<I like to buff them out a little) I just got a Rock myself and am very impressed with it also. Lots of good advice on this board.

Congrats on your A2 ripstick...the issues you're having seems to be just break in related. Give her a good cleaning and a few more rounds...that would settle her. Good luck and enjoy!

Ripstick, welcome to the forum and congrats on your new RIA!! :wc: :) Try some Slide Glide by Brian Enous, it is some great stuff!!! Most RIA pistols like to be run pretty wet, not dripping though!!! :D It should smooth out for you with a few more rounds through it!!! :)

When I took mine out for the first time at about 150 rounds i started to have a few problems. I figured as breaking in a new pistol and i was right. I cleaned the heck out of it and took it out again, knocked out 250 rounds, and had no problems. I think with the break in period, and the combination of 300 rounds straight your gun was probably just getting a little filthy. Clean the heck out of it and take it out again and it should be good to go. Have fun with that rocky.

Welcome Ripstick! Just lube and clean it. 300 round of 230 hardball just breaks it in. I doubt you have any more issues. One last thing. :fp:
