View Full Version : Unhappy with Wilson on parts order.

I placed an order with Wilson on Monday 2/23 for some parts. I called later that week asking why it had not shown up on my card yet. I was told that the bushing wrench I ordered needed to be packaged and it would ship when it shown up on my card statement. I was told Thursday or Friday it should ship. It finally showed up Monday on my account and I finally got an e-mail saying it was shipped Tuesday afternoon 3/3. I should have it on 3/5.

What is annoying is that I had to call to get an update on my order and they could have sent an e-mail or called to let you know what’s up with your order. And it will take an extra week of waiting on my parts. If I had know that I would not have placed an order with them and probably will never again because of this.

I'm sorry, but I'd have a hard time getting worked up about 7 working days from order to shipment and 9 working days from order to receipt. And I'm not sure what sort of updates you'd expect. The norm seems to be, based on my Internet buying experiences, an email acknowledging the order and then another email at shipment with a tracking number. If you didn't get those, it's outside the norm, but not unheard of.

I also think it would be reasonable for a vendor to let you know if some part of your order will be significantly delayed -- say on the order of 30 days or more.

I go with Frank on this one.

Wilson has one of the best customer service departments in the industry. In addition, considering Arkansas recently had a devastating ice storm, a nine business day turnaround is excellent.

I would have to agree with the others, direct factory orders are usualy a long extended waiting period, dealers/vendors come first, individual customers last. I try to avoid ordering direct whenever I can, anything short of a month is usualy a maricle,...LOL.

I have a back order with them now and I've been told that they're behind due to the ice storm and they have employees that are STILL without power, etc.

This was out of their control (IIRC they were closed for at least a week if not ten days) and I don't mind waiting...

I placed an order with them recently for some additional accessories and misc. items... But I did so with the understanding that they aren't a huge manufacturer with state of the art supply chain management. Therefore I set my expectations fairly low.

A good rule of thumb I've always used is to call any internet retailer/factory just before I place the order. Gives them a mental heads up as well as allows you to set your expectations properly.

Good luck with your order!!

I did not know about the ice storm up there. I can understand if they are having problems filling orders. They have an order system that sends e-mails and just a notice or a notice on thier site saying there could be a delay would have been nice so I could have ordered the parts from a vendor that could have shipped them in 1-2 days.

+1

And a quick, short e-mail, titled "Thank you for your service" after you receive your order is a really good idea too, especially if it's a vendor you order from often. Chances are, they will remember you next time.

If you want e-mail confirmation for your order, shipping etc. I would recommend Brownells, and Midway. I've been buying parts from Brownells for many years now and they are my first choice. If an item is out of stock the web page will indicate that, or a new window will open.
Brownells and Midway keep most of these parts in stock, and you pay the same price unless you are a business.
i wanted a Cylinder & Slide ami safety, out of stock, C & S was out also so I had to wait.
Keep in mind that Brownells and Midway are in the parts business.
Small packages USPS FCM, three to four days, UPS anywhere from three to five days, depending on your location.

Figured it would be relevant to reply again...

I just got an e-mail that everything has shipped aside from my grips. They indicated they are backordered and expected to ship in 3-6 weeks.

So far, so good as far as the communication goes!

Just experienced the same problem with Wilson. Ordered a Dwyer group gripper, front stap, and Tactical thumb safety a week ago. I live one state over. Still not here. Called yesterday turns out the safety was B.O.'d. Thought they made those in house?
Hmmm... Oh well gets here when it gets here.

I doubt they have the excess production capacity to be making everything at once. It then is a matter of waiting for that part to get back into the production cycle.

I ordered a set of G10 grips from Wilson and was e-mailed the next day that they were a 2-4 week back order. So now I just wait.........

I dunno, I've had 2 Wilson parts orders in the last month or so, got email confirmations and tracking info, and customer service was.... dare I say it.... the bomb. One package was delivered to the wrong address by UPS and Tressa was ready to send a duplicate order the next day till my neighbor showed up with the package. They are awesome on parts orders lately... great job all you Wilsons...
