Hi everyone this is my first post here and I hope to make many more over time. A few weeks ago I was at my usual haunt drooling over the vast selection of pistols they had when I saw this beauty calling out to me.

The price was right at $399.95 so I dropped the cash down on the counter and after a quik PICS check it was on its way home with me.

After I got it home I immediately did what I always do with a new gun purchase, I tore it apart and cleaned every nook and cranny. After I got it back together and held it in my hands for a while I noticed some things about this gun that needed to change. First the grip panels were too thick for my smallish hands, second I didn't like how the hammer and trigger looked and finally I noticed how spoiled I must have gotten with previous 1911 purchases which had beveled magwells. So I got onto Brownells website and ordered up some parts.

This is what she looks like now. I bought a set of Mahogany contoured grips, a wilson combat add on magwell and a set of those spiffy engraved hex head grips screws. I also took the hammer and trigger to work and ran them over a polishing wheel to get them nice and shiny.

Thoughts, comments concerns?

Llama like Star made nice guns. Llama was smart enough to realize that a true .1911 pattern pistol was the way to go. The older Llamas are not interchangeable with 1911's.

You'll more then likely have a range report this weekend depending on if its nice or not.

You may read the review of that pistol in our E-zine (http://ezine.m1911.org/Firestorm_frame.htm).

I picked up a AMERICAN CLASSIC 2 (FIRESTORM) they are the same just a different roll mark ,striped it down just a few minutes ago ..unbelievable fit and finish....I was amazed...i purchased this gun to trade or resale..but I'm going to to the range with her hopefully this weekend,if weather permits..i ordered some black rubber Kimber grips ,which as was mentioned the grips on this gun are fairly thick ..but nice..
If the gun shoots as good as she looks ..it maybe a keeper...
one thing I've noticed bout these Phils. (ROCK ISLAND) they raise a few eyebrows at the range ...esp. when they shoot with $1200 to $1500.00 guns...

I wonder if these Firestroms and American Classics.. are the same as the new CITADEL guns floating around ??

Well I took the Firestorm out on Friday. It was slightly rainy but at least it wasnt cold. Anyway I put 150rds of Winchester white box through it with absolutely no hiccups. I tell ya what I lack the proper skill and equipment to truly test what this pistol can do, but I believe I got way more then what I paid for. The magwell I added made magazine changes a breeze, I suggest one for anybody looking for quicker reload times. Accuracy wise I hit everything I aimed at. From empty beer bottles at 15ft (they were emptied last week I dont drink and shoot) to some bowling pins I had set up about 25 yards away. No malfunctions to report just a really REALLY dirty gun when I got home :)

Is that the original magazine in the pistol? I'm also planning on getting a wilson magwell for my gun and would like to know if I am going to have to modify the original mag that came with the gun. Thanks

Actually yeah it is. The gun came with an 8rd act mag. There was some trouble initially in trying to get it to lock in with the magwell but after a sanded a small amount of material off the top and sides of the bumper it fts fine.
