Can anyone help explain the different types of triggers used by Colt and/or the other 1911A1 contractors in WWII? I have both Harrison's 'Collectors Field Guide...' and Clawson's "Collector's Guide to Colt .45 Service Pistols..." (not the 'big book') but neither addresses trigger types in detail. Specifically, I have a spare stamped trigger and the checkering on the face is somewhat coarse. Can't figure out howto upload an image to show you what I mean. In the 'coarse ' trigger, I count approx. 20 rows of checkering, top to bottom. The trigger does have the relief cut on the bow. In photos of original WWII 1911A1's the checkering on the stamped triggers is much finer, almost double that, or so it appears. Any information on the differences (i.e.; which manufacturers used which kind, when, etc.) is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

The only thing that I know is that "The Ithaca Gun Company" designed the stamped metal one that was used. My nomeclature may not be correct.

Welcome to the board.

The trigger you describe is not an original M1911A1 stamped trigger. It sounds like recent and aftermarket.

There is a FAQ page on the site that explains how to post images through an image hosting site.
If you can't figure that out, feel free to e-mail me the image through the site at scott@m1911.org and I'll post it for you until you figure out what you are doing.

I have one here but can't get a clear picture, and my batteries died. I thought it might a pepro, but now I think that it might be USGI. It does not have checkering like this one. The trigger I have came out of a 1911.

I'm no expert in these matters, but I just did a little surfing, and the only picture of a trigger I could find was like the one pictured.

Then I looked at some 1911A1 photos and the triggers are entirely different. Well the checkering is. The trigger I have is an Ithaca trigger (?), the Remington Rand is slightly different.

I'll try to do a pic if it will help.

Lots of pictures, and it looks like I have an Ithaca trigger.

Thanks for the link to coolgunsite.com In looking at the photos there, it appears that the trigger I have might be either a Colt (1944-1945) or Remington Rand (1943-1945). The Itaca and US&S triggers appear to have the finer checkering. At least that is how it appears from the photos. I also agree that most of the photos of 1911A1 specimens on this M1911.org site, whether Colt, US&S, Remington, or Ithaca, do seem to show the guns with the more finely checkered triggers.
