I must be missing something in my searches, but exactly what is Colt O Custom Shop package?

I think I phrased it wrong. I meant what is different between the original Government Model MK IV - Series 70 and the original Government Model MK IV - Series 70/ Model O

1911's are the "O Frame" so the "O Package" applies to the "O Frame".

The officially listed contents are:

Novak Rear Sight
Heine Front Sight
S&A Beavertail
Dehorn

Although not listed in includes a hammer and refinish. Theres some debate as to whether an "action job" is included.

We have discussed it several times, so additional details can probably be found with a search.

That was great DuckRyder. Thanks for the info!!.
I had seen 2 Colt Safety and Instruction Manuals and one said:
Government Model MK IV - Series 70/ Model O Copyrighted 2003
and the other said:
Government Model MK IV - Series 70 - Model O1970A1 -Copyrighted 2001
I couldn't really see anything different in the manuals so I figured I'd ask.

I'm in the process of buying a Mark IV - Series 70 in Satin Nickel made in 1983 with no manuals and looking for one. I think Colt will send me one free if I call.

It's cataloged as the O1991Z. You can see it in the 2008 and 2009 catalogs.

That is true, but you can have the "O Package" done on many models.

Funny that I've seen the O1991Z applied to pistols which appeared to have various features, I actually presumed the "Z" noted a nonstandard configuration.

I could be wrong about that (probably am).

Just to be clear, a "Model O" and a "Model O Package" are not the same thing necessarily.

Heres my XSE with the "Model O Package" it was an early model that came with standard sights and the hammer and safety are Ed Brown parts which were not part of the package. I requested the beavertail without palmswell.

Real nice! I like the roll marks and the beaver without the bump.

Great point; I'll have to look into that.
