Hello,

I finally decided to refinish my Lightweight Commander Frame with black Type III—Hard Anodizing per MIL-A-8625 and top coat with flat black Teflon impregnated Xtremcoat from US Anodize. I truly believe that hardcoat anodize will significantly extend the life of the frame.

I wont receive the frame until a few week and it will be a strange looking beast with a flat black frame, steel pins and original color mag release. I will decide how to proceed "recoloring" these parts after a while.

I will post pictures when done.

Best Regard
Eric

What about the slide? Will you have that coated flat black to match the frame?

No, I don't consider the slide at risk of excessive wear. I had two spots the front of the frame rails that wear through the Teflon coating into the soft aluminum. I confirmed this when these wear marks turned black after I applied some aluminum black to the rails.

Not to Jump ship here but the pistol should look something like a Sig C3 when done. In fact I decided to use US Anodize to hardcoat the frame because they are the company that finishes production Sig frames.
