Could you guys tell me (if at all possible) how to figure out what year my Colt is. I picked up the Officers 1911 on Monday and I am curious how old she is...

Thanx...

On one of my older rifles I was able to match up serials with the manufacture and found the date that way. Does Colt have a site where you can match the range of your serial to the year?

Colt does not. Even books go no recent than 1983 or so.

Your only option is a call to Colt.

Call Colt Customer Service, they'll look it up and tell you right then. That's how I dated my 1990 Combat Commander. One 5 minute call.

It is an 800 call though. I have called on several of my pistols and they are nice and there is no cost. I think they keep it on microfiche. If I hit the lottery big I will volunteer to go back and scan it into a database and put it on the web.
