I may end up leaving the factory stocks on this pistol as I think they look good. I just swapped out the factory ambi safety for the Colt strong side tear drop safety.
Here it is factory:

Here are the alternatives:

I think those Double Diamond grips look great. If you want some reasonably price Double Diamond grips in a lighter color. Wood Grips makes a pair in Ivorywood. Here is a picture of some on one of my Commanders. Their website is www.woodgrips.com

Landman, your commander is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for the reply. I think the ones your referring too are the 1911 repro stocks in the third picture.

Justin,
Thanks for the compliment. It's a great looking pistol and fun to shoot.
Yes, I was referring to the repro stocks. Those are hard to beat. They look good on just about any Colt.

?????
That's an M1991A1. I don't think Colt made those with an ambi safety, or with a beavertail.
I'm confused. It doesn't appear to be in original configuration. Are you trying to return it to "stock" configuration, or fine-tune it to your preferences?

I agree not factory, nice pistol I like it. Colt used the spur hammer in the GM 1991A1, and the GI type safety. The sights are different.
McCormick double diamond rose wood, nice and comfy.
see My poor old Colt, Colt picture thread.

I like Colts and will die that way
Nice 9mm Combat Commander

I hate to correct you guys but this pistol did come factory with an ambi safety, beavertail, and elongated commander hammer. In addition this Colt is fully accurized from the Custom Shop and come with a proof of accuracy target. This is the predacessor to the Special Combat Government have you will. These were built by Custom Shop workers number 4 and number 5. Mine was built by worker number 4. It is rollmarked CS #4 under the L/H stock panel.

Apparently it is a model you are not familiar with, it is an LCM (Limited Class Model). I have to correct Justin though, it was built by #5.
This is the pistol when it was 100%.

There isn't anything wrong with the stocks, they're by Navidrex and made of Westinghouse Micarta.

They are what Dan said they are. I was just wanting opinions on which stocks look the best. I can't really decide. They all look good. My dad and grandfather both like the medallion stocks. I like the WWI repro and factory stocks. I am leaning towards leaving the factory stocks on it. But for now they are on my LB C4. :D

Personally, I don't like fancy, highly-figured wood on a gun that doesn't have a polished or otherwise fancy finish. For a matte black pistol, I think something low-profile, like the stock grips, look best. I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I also don't generally like double-diamond stocks on anything but old Colts from DD era.

That's a great looking pistol and any of those grips would look good on it. I'm just glad somebody explained what "LCM" stood for. It was driving me crazy and I didn't want to ask :)

I vote for the original ones (you knew I would, didn't ya, Justin). Gives it a really cool, sinister look, in my opinion. :D
