been meaning to post someday of my norinco that i got this year but never thought i'd be posting that a part broke off.

anyways, i bought a norinco online. only test fired and well preserved.

had past the 500 rd mark prior to yesterday and have been happy with it. mainly winchester ammo from walmart and a box of norinco ammo i found at a shop... no feeding problems or ejection problems... just shoot reliably.

the only issue i had was the sights and trigger... been thinking to getting kings hardball sights and trigger job for improved function and a flat msh and new grips for asthetics.

yesterday i go to the range to shoot with some buddies, fire off 100 more rds. was shooting with only 5 rds in the clip at a time and was a good day with the surprise of a couple of FTF... only twice and on the last rd in the clip.

today i am field stripping the gun and when i remove the slide the ejector fell out. i look at the ejector and the entire front stake is complete sheared off the ejector and embedded in the frame. i'm not that knowledgeable with 1911 parts but with the entire stake in the frame, it does not sound good.

can sombody explain what a smith will do to remove it and how much we're looking at?
any recommendations on the best replacement ejector to buy?
anyone recommend a good smith in the ft. laud area or maybe a smith elsewhere that you can recommend shipping it to?

i remember tuner1911 a long time ago was offering complementary detailed cleanings on norcs for his research. still available? cause from reading his posts he is well respected and i wouldn't mind shipping it for a cleaning and paying for the ejector fix.

thanks,
don

The front ejector leg is held in by a tiny little pin in the frame rail cut. I would say drift out the pin, turn the receiver up side down and tap it with a rubber mallet, you might want to spray in some penetrating oil too. With any luck it will fall out and that would be my first technique to try. If that fails, you may end up having to sink a drill bit into it and extract the broken piece. This is not a job for a hand drill as there is no way you can hold it steady and not damage the receiver.

Hi Don,

Wish I could accept gun shipments...but I let my FFL go some years ago, so the only way is for you to bring it. Detail-stripping isn't hard though, and you can get the instructions here on one of the sticky threads. If you hit a snag, you can call me for a walk-through.

If the rubber mallet doesn't do the trick...which it probably will...use a length of pine 2X4 to bump the frame. Many light bumps is better than a few heavy ones. it should come out, since it's not supposed to be a press-fit.

A new ejector will probably require making the cut for the pin. Locate it in the frame first with a sharp punch through the pin hole. Easy! Take it out and use a triangular needle file to notch it. Stick it back in and see where the center of the notch is and adjust up or down accordingly. When it's almost right flush with the rear radius of the pin hole, finish it with a round needle file. Take one light cut and check...Repeat until the pin will go through with a light tap. Drive the pin just past flush with the frame way and you should have a good ejector fit.
