Suggest you search this, the Springfield, and the gunsmithing forums for "scratch removal", "idiot scratch" etc. any key words relative to the subject. There are numerous methods depending on whether the finish is bright, or brushed, as well as the depth of the scratch. Everyone has their favorite. Sounds like most of them work.
