I have one of colt's limited edition gold cup commander's number 41 out of the first 500 made . It has Colt's royal blue and is in 98% -99% with the box and document's . I also have a very nice set of Ivory grip's from Nutmeg Sport's on it. I'm thinking of letting it go but only have the blue book to go by so I need some input on the value.

I'd check gunbroker.com for gold cup commander sales in the last thirty days.
I believe there was at least one NIB example that SOLD for $1600 or thereabouts. Looks like a beautiful piece.

The Gold Cup Commander is a very rare model like you said only a few were produced. A used GC Commdr in LNIB condition was sold locally for 989.00.

I agree with Ric! Myself and Paul both purchased ours locally and the price was more in line with the price you posted! There were two more available and they were less than $1000 as well. and they are Nib! I'm sorry but I don't think Gun broker is a good place to judge prices anymore! If anyone cares to notice most of the pistols on there now are Way overpriced and they don't sell!

Guns International which is not an auction has nice pictures and realistic prices.
The Bluebooks are usefull/useless and in between.
I have never paid Bluebook price for an N frame Smith always more, but usuallt fair
The Standard Catalog of Firearms is nice because they use lots of nice pictures most of the time.

I too am interested in the the value of a Gold Cup Commander. I purchased the gun new sometime in 1991 and I have never fired it.
This one is Stainless Steel with the rollmark on the left side of "GOLD CUP COMMANDER - Custom Edition - ". This one bears the Serial number GCC0009 and according to the letter I received from the Colt Historian, Kathleen J. Hoyt, the serial number range was GCC0001 through GCC1000.
I have the original CARDBOARD box with the Styrofoam insert and all the packing material. I'm guessing later units shipped with plastic carrying boxes.
Right now I have no interest in selling it but if the price is right who knows.....
Thanks! PA
