Hi,

I have been thinking a lot about it, and I really think that Colt is loosing money and loosing market by rejecting to upgrade and expand the series 70 line:

-. The series 70 line should be upgraded by offering a full size government model series 70 with the "O custom shop package" as regular production item showing a decent price tag. I am fortunate to own a Colt Gunsite pistol that I really love. It is a serious mistake not to reintroduce this pistol (maybe with better looking roll marks).

-. The series 70 line should be expanded by offering a series 70 Combat Commander in 9mm and .45, such pistol would be a great success.
Yes, I know that it has never been a roll marked series 70 Commander. It is not so difficult to acomplish, we are talking about a 1991 Commander steel frame and slide, short solid trigger, non enhanced commander hammer, no series 80 firing safety and XSE style roll marks on slide.

Would you buy these pistols?

What about a series 70 Commander reissue with the "O custom shop package? The perfect carry/home defense package.

Just dreaming...

Sounds like a great idea to me! But, I would be eating baloney sandwiches for a year, in order to buy them all! :)

I'd love a lightweight Commander with the O package.

Yes! And while we are on the subject.....

Why can't Colt add 9mm and 38 super to existing models, ie; 9mm XSE Commanders.....9mm NRM Gov'ts?

Why can't Colt make a CCO which everyone seems to be wishing for?

I wish Colt the best, but they are still missing the boat big time.

Sorry to beat the horse. ;)

Oh, it would take me awhile to name all of the guns I want them to produce. Basically, it would boil down to offering the following options in any combination, with further customization possible through the Custom Shop

Government, Commander, CCO, Officer, Defender, or New Agent
Blued or stainless
Series 70 or 80
Normal, XSE, or O package
Black, white dot, or night sights
.45ACP, .38 Super, or 9mm (10mm, .40, and 9x23mm available through the Custom Shop if it can be done in the slide/frame combo selected)

Would the lightweight Colt XSE Commander be condidered the same thing, as a LWC with the "O Package"?
I'm left handed and the forward cocking serrations are usefull.
The one I had was .38 Super, had .45 also standard sights.

Not really, the "O" package consist of dehorning the pistol, replacing the grip safety with a S&A beaver-tail, cutting a dovetail for the front sight and cutting the slide and installing (real) Novak sights.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to do these things, but Colt seems to be on their own page on things. When 9mm was not that popular here, they sold one. When 40 cal was not yet popular, they sold one. Now that most people are buying 9's and 40's, they give us only 45 and Super 38. 45 is great, but other than tradition, why do they insist on having Super 38 as the only other option?

Couldn't agree more.

I'd buy a lightweight commander with the "O" package if I didn't already have a Gunsite CCO.

Thanks I didn't know, would be a nice option on a regular Commander.

Seems in how the original concept of the LW Commander was a 9mm, .38 Super, and .45 ACP, a 9mm would make sense. The only thing needed is a barrel and the Super parts. The rim dimensions differences are not much. Yhe Super slide could be also used I guess.
