RR resto or not?

Greetings from the newbie! Have a Remington rand,serial 20010XX,that has alot of custom parts,refinished in black something,but has not been milled,drilled,etc.I am interested in having the finish restored to original,and swapping the parts back.Need some reccomendations for the finish,and changing the sights.Also,what are the good books on USGI .45,s,and some sources for the "orignal" parts.Really enjoy the site.Thanks,1stmardiv

Welcome to the forum. I would suggest posting some pictures of your pistol so the pros here can better see what all has been changed on your gun, also they could determine what kind of sights you have, how they were installed, and whether or not it is fesible to reinstall the original sights. As far as books go, I recently asked the same question, and I was told that Clawson's 3rd Edition Collectors Guide is a musthave.
