Took them both to the range today and fired 100 rounds through each.

At this point, the CE did not show any more rubbing on the slide from the dustcover and fired great. I will not send it back to Colt at this time. I did have 2 mag caused failures to feed. The Colt supplied 8 round mags had the follower that wanted to go with the last round into the chamber. Also, I forgort to torque down the Novak site screw and it came loose, and the sight moved over to the right. I got to drift that thing back or get a site pusher.

No problem with the Officer's. It's Colt supplied 7 round mags had followers that will not move out of the mags with the last round.

Targets shot at 10 yards, standing, no support. This is also the 1st time I've shot a 1911 type pistol. They shoot so nice, my SIG and the Glock 21SF I had take a lot more concentration to get rounds on paper!

Awesome to hear!! Mine has to go back also for the same problem and a couple of other small ones. Glad to see it is a good fix. If you get a chance read my post on the dust cover thickness I discovered after finding the rub mark. Keep shooting ;) Mine will get a call to Colt on Monday. Floyd

Some other observations after cleaning.

Officers: None, everything seemed to be good to go.

Combat Elite: All of the grip screws came loose and one of the grips got chipped at the screw hole. The grip screws on the Officer's model are still tight. I was going to replace them but I still liked the look of the grips. Also, the rear sight allen screw came loose and the sight moved on the slide. I tried to drift it back but it wasn't moving. I was surprised since it seemed to have no problem moving during firing. Guess I gotta get a sight pusher.

Guess I gotta get a sight pusher.
You don't need a sight pusher, all you need is a brass or nylon punch and a small hammer.

Just drift it over like OD* says.

Good shooting and you have a nice pair of pistols there! The sight moving while shooting gives you some insight as to just how much wear and tear these pistols go through when shooting.

Excellent shooting. Where did you get that Colt logo laser engraved pair of grips? They look great. I want a pair for my defender, I gotta have a pair for my defender. Thanks, Arizona Jim

Thanks for the report and pics.
Nice choices in 1911's ;)
It's good to hear you've pretty much got them running to your satisfaction.

Those are the stock grips that come with the new Colt Combat Elites.
