Hello to you all; I'm new here and I really need your help about my last acquisition.
I was lucky to found here (Italy) an almost mint Colt 1911A1, but not lucky enough about the barrel: due our past law on military caliber, she has an HS barrel in 45 HP. Now I've been offered with a barrel marked COLT 45 AUTO at 7 o clock, just over the lug, and also P on the left lug, but no more markings as, in example, G or F. I didn't see the barrel in person, but the seller stated it is blued (90% circa) and not parkerized. My Colt is 912XXX and I readed somewere she should have a barrel with, in addiction, G, F or 7 below the chamber area. Is it the rule or the one I found could be correct also?

Thanks in advance,

Marzio

I don't know of any military barrels for the Colt 1911A1 that were not marked ahead of the lug. According to Clawson it would be the barrel that you described, except it would have a G/N or G/F ahead of the lug. On some of the F marked barrels, the F is so small and poorly struck that you have to know that it is an F to make it out.

Thanks Johnny, actually it could be a mistake of the seller... or something totally wrong. My only reference is coolgunsite, and there it's not completely clear if every WWII Colt barrel has to have these markings; I understood after s/n 930.000 circa G marking disappeared since commercial sales were discontinued.
