Luv my Colt New Agent, but when using Chip McCormick 8-round magazines, the 8th round always jams (stovepipes) bullet up, in the port. Have to drop the mag to clear the case. What's causing this?

My guess is the magazine. I don't like 8 round mags, never had any luck with them.

Does your NA work well with the supplied Colt mags?

both Colt & CMC mag in 7-rnd work great.
Am shooting USPSA and want 8-rnd mags, so can finish at a target. Am also thinking of using 10-rnd mags, but don't want to waste $$$ on these if bigger mags tend to jam. I did borrow & try one 10-rnd mag, and it worked OK, but am still hesitant.

Try another brand of 8-rounds and see what happens. It could be the specific brands design. Not all magazines are created equal.

Ok, perhaps read this thread and try those mags.

Does the Chip McCormick have a dimpled follower. The dimpled follower raises the last round to prevent it from jamming. Furthermore, if you are utilizing the Devel Style follower in a L/W Alloy framed gun (that does not have a retaining lip on the follower) you could sustain frame damage. As the follower makes contact with the frame.

Also, I never heard of an 8 round mag for an Officers Framed gun. if you are using a standard size 8 round mag in an officers frame gun, the mag could push in too far and cause damage.

Hello,

I always thought that the dimple slowed the last round's forward momentum when the case rim hit the dimple? The .45 case has a step in the exact location where the bullet is pressed into the case.

The extra .010 - .020 inch won't consistently place the round any higher from pistol to pistol because there are too many variables or stackups that exceed the .010-.020 inch in the system.

FWIW, my Wilson 8 rd mag had trouble with the last round feeding as well, even w/ occasionally a round that wasn't the last.

I replaced the spring w/a heavier one from where I've forgotten (found info hear fwiw) but haven't shot it yet this way. So far my 7 rd Wilsons' have given my NO problems.

But, I am going to order up some Checkmates I think (7rd) and try those out as well.
