Well I had planned on doing up my Springfield next, but then I started looking at something and next thing you know I ordered a handful of parts for the 4"
Not only that, but I bought a bobtail MSH....
I am not even sure I really like the looks of a bobtail, but I have to always
be tinkering with something, and I've never tried anything like this.. So..
The parts showed up today (A day earlier than scheduled) so I got to cutting and fitting the grip safety, and the bobtail..
I'm about done with the fitting, just need to finish smoothing everything out.
I also need to find out what color I am going to do the frame, and get it coated..

I picked up a complete midsize from a local range that I do some work for..
I don't charge them, and they give me great deals when I buy new guns
(works out great) I picked this one up brand new for $200 :appld:

Very cool, I thought it was a scratch build. I'm getting tried of waiting for 9mm so I'm thinking about dragging out the tools.

Thanks.
It's Gun Kote and the color is Titanium Gray.
I blasted the parts with Aluminum Oxide
then wiped them down with some 900 preclean
I then heated the parts to 100deg.
Then sprayed on the Gun Kote with an airbrush
(cheap $10 job at Harbor Freight)
Then put it into a preheated oven (Instructions say 300-325)
I have a laser temp gauge, and once the part hot 300 deg
I started my timer for 1 hour,
I rechecked the temp of the frame about 15 min in
and it was at about 315 deg.. still good.
Took it out when the time was up, and assembled after the parts cooled

I am currently holding a bottle of the Gun Kote matte brushed stainless and debating on whether or not to take the dive. I am definitely encouraged by the look of your Rock.

What grit alum oxide? That determined some of the texture correct?
Also did the GKote require thinning? I have used Gkote aerosol but not the liquid.

No the GK did not require any thinning.
I'll have to check on the grit if I still have the bottle, but I remember that it was courser than I wanted,
(I wanted 120) so I brought my pressure down to try to make it a bit less aggressive

What kind of hammer is that? I have a Taurus that I would like to replace the MIM hammer on, and I like that style of hammer. If you can direct me to where you got yours, or a blued one like it, I would be very appreciative. Thanks
Ryan
BTW, that is a very sharp looking pistol! I like the way it turned out.
