How about M1911A1 Colts representing all 5 years we were in WW II?

And, 5 first year production Navy Colts (since this photo was taken, I have acquired #823)... 795, 810, and 823 were in the FIRST shipment of 500 Colts to the Navy.

Neat huh??? :D

"Neat" is not enough! "Super Neat" is a bit closer! ;) But "Awesome" may best describe the five. If I could only have one, it would be the 1941. I was 5 months old when Pearl Harbor was attacked.

Here are the three early Navys... 810 and 823 were assigned to the USS DELAWARE BB 28...

Note that all three have the Type 1, dimpled magazine release.

I just woke at 0400, and after a cuppa coffee, I thought I would post a few photos..

I have a young female protegee that is currently in New Zealand for 6 months on an internship with the YMCA. She graduates from Western Washington University in June. She is going to help me collate all my photos and create an annotated photo book of the best examples. Should be fun!!! I have hundreds if not thousands of photos of every 1911 that I have ever owned!!!! Should be fun and interesting!!!

Well from what I have seen you have the makings of a fine coffee table book.
Sounds like that will be a fun project. I hope your protege is your daughter in which case the project will be that much more enjoyable.

John,

Over the years you have just killed us mortal collectors with your almost unbelievable pictures. And of course, once again, you have gone 'above and beyond'. Just one time, I'd like to think that I could post a picture from my collection, that would, or could possibly 'hang' with yours.

Here is my attempt.

I dunno, John. In the world of collectable M1911 pistols, does BGiven's "Pair" beat your "Five of a Kind"? LOL

Beautiful pistols all around, gentlemen.

Now to replace my keyboard.

Nope.... I was just hoping to be able to sit at the same table with 'the man'.

If I was the croupier, I'd say you could sit in on a hand or two.

Well, women may come and go, but a good Colt is FOREVER!!!!

Those twins are a pair of LOVELYS!!!!

BTW, there is a thread on the CSP relating how I take photos. I hope it is not De Rigour to mention Culver.

(And no comments about my work bench. I have heard them all)

I never realized you could be shocked when a string of drool hit the keyboard! All the great pictures by the grand master collectors on this site showing the literal 'cream of the crop' of the .45 auto pistol have served to show all of us what it's like at the top of this hobby and have given us something to aspire to. Thank you all for the time and trouble to present these fine pieces!
