Awhile back i picked up a couple of Ed Brown Hardcore Firing pins to have as backups.
Well i figured today that i would install one and keep the original as a backup instead.
So i break down the pistol - remove the pin-stop and pin/spring. At that point i noticed that the profile of the SA Pin is Different than the Ed Brown. The rear area where the the pin fits into the slide has much more metal. Also the pin length of the Ed Brown is slightly shorter.
So i go to install the pin - No Fit. The striker end of the pin (bullet end) is thicker, so it wont fit down the hole ( it goes about 3/4 way).
Is it normal to have to fit or lightly sand/file down the pin to fit?
And is the slightly shorter length (about 1/16 to 3/32) ok?
Thanks.
