I prefer plain black sights over sights with painted white dots. Is there a better solution than using flat black model paint? Should I remove the existing white paint or do you think I could get away with painting over the white paint? I would really like to do a clean job that won't look too out of place on a nice pistol. I looked into a product called "Sight Black" but it was in a spray can... Please advise. Thank you!

Just remove the white paint .
Thank you... I guess I'll try some lacquer thinner or MEK... Will thinners damage bluing? If not, I guess I'm good! Thanks once again.

I've always used lacquer thinner and toothpick to dig the softened paint out.

I discovered quite by accident that spray carberator cleaner will remove the paint in a colt's sights..

A quick and dirty solution is to simply use the point of a fresh Sharpie to blacken the white dots. Then, if you decide to go back to the white dots, simply use any solvent available to remove the ink from the Sharpie.
