I am having trouble trying to figure out why my Rock River will not go to slide lock after my last round is fired. It operates manualy but not after firing the last round. I have several different magazines, some new some older and at one time they all worked. I have changed out the slide stop, no change. I installed a wolff exatra power magazine spring in a Chip McCormick mag., no change. Every now and then it will lock back but on different mags at different times hardly ever the same mag twice. My rounds feed and eject flawlessly. Any thoughts would be apperciated.

Government length, Commander, or Officers? (Or shorter?)
Do you run a shock buffer?

It is a government length with no shock buffer. I just tried another 1911 and the mag that I put the wolff extra power spring in locked back twice with a hotter load but would not lock back with other mags. I was shooting a 200gr swc with 5.0gr of n320(the one that worked on mag with new spring). The one that did not work on the mag with the new spring was 185gr swc. with 5.4gr of 231.

Examine the aft, vertical, exterior surface of the slide stop: is it flat, or does it have a detent into which the slide stop plunger fits?

It is flat, there is no detent.

It is flat, there is no detent.Good, that eliminates that as a possible cause.
Sounds like maybe the slide's not going back far enough.
Q#1: What weight recoil spring is in the gun?

I usually use a #18 spring but right now with 185gr.bullets I changed to a #16 spring both with the same results. I have inspected how the follower hits the slide release and everything seems to be functioning correctly.
