Ramped and non ramped?

I am wanting to build a 1911 "obviously" on a caspian recon frame in .40 S&W but want to be able to switch to 45 with an unramped barrel. Can this be done?

Yes, as long as the 40 is a non-ramped barrel also.

Do non ramped 40 barrels generally feed alright or have issues with feeding. I have no experience with ramped barrels.

Yes they should feed fine, the non-ramped barrels do not however support the case as well as ramped barrels, not such an issue for std.- target loads.
