View Full Version : Best way to fix a problem with s&a mag well?

fitting my new s&a mag well to my norinco commander model, ive got the problem that because the mag well is a different angle than the fram the front of the mag well hits the frame and stops it from going high enough that the mainspring housing pin will fit in. here is a picture

im new to 1911s, so i was wondering what the best fix for this would be

Very common and easy to fix. The magwell is malleable and will easily bend. A thin piece of wood or plastic can be placed between the magwell tips and the frame and the magwell struck with a soft face dead blow hammer or equivalent to change the angle and mate it to the frame. It won't break.It is best for the tips to hit first so you have to press the mag well against the bench to allow the pin to be installed, this will keep the tips from catching on anything.
