Have Gold Match II, Blue. Some deep scratches (2) were made on the Receiver, just below the Slide Stop (which caused the scratces). Scratches are short/small but deep. Blued the scratches but it's not taken away the scratches.

How can I remove these scratches - or, is it suggested to take pistol to a gunsmith to do the work?

Removal of scratches requires the removal of metal down to the depth of the deepest scratch. This will live the area surrounding the scratches slightly concave. If just the concave area is reblued, the blueing may not match that on the rest of the gun. The result may be a different colored "dent" instead of the two short scratches. Even if the blueing in the dent is a perfect color match, the concavity will still be visible - and may be more of an eyesore than the scratches you have now.

But that's just the opinion of someone who could really care less about dings, scratches, rust pits, etc. - unless they affect the gun's operation.

Would recommend you take your gun to a 'smith with a known good
reputation in refinishing. At least he/she will be able to see the scratches.

You've got some good points. Will take pistol to a "smith" and get an opinion. Thank you for the input.

Bondo and Krylon

I had (perhaps erroneously) assumed the OP's gun was blued just because he said he'd blued the scratches.Bondo and KrylonThat idea might work if it's got some other type of finish - and the Krylon matches - and the Bondo stays put - and..... :p
