View Full Version : Firing Pin Block

Yesterday I had a set of Trijicon night sights put onto my Kimber Pro Carry II at my local pistol shop. I assembled my gun after they were installed, and noticed that when the grip safety is pressed I can hear the firing pin block's spring making a "creeking" sound (like an old door). I never heard this sound before. It makes this noise even if you use your finger to press it with the slide off. Is it possible that the spring got damaged or kinked, or is there another reason for this? I didn't have the opportunity to call the guy who put them on during business hours, but I will be calling him when they open today. I would like more information before I contact him. Thanks for any help. Nic

If the spring's a compression spring and symmetric (so it can be installed 2 ways), remove it, reverse it, reinstall it and give it a squeak check.

I think you have to remove the rear sight to remove those on Kimbers; and they're generally on really tight, so it may not be worth the trouble.
You could hold the slide right side up and spray some CLP up around the plunger; then work it in and out some and see if it improves (maybe a bit of grit in just the right spot).
