All,
Thanks the great help of several on this forum (particularly mhinagoya) I have completed my first big project on my Springfield Champion.
I used to bobtail jig and a bobtail MSH by Ed Brown. I have tried to bobtail the grips but was less successful (and generally not happy) with the results.
This thread is just to help encourage those out there who are thinking about doing some work but nervous (as I was). It isn't easy, but if you take your time (and have the right tools!) you can do some really cool stuff. And even better you will have the satisfaction of knowing you did it yourself.
I think my next project will be a single-sided safety to replace my ambi. After I get some slim bob-tail grips. All of my project will be to help make my 1911 more concealable and effective for personal carry.
Thanks again to all the people here sharing their knowledge. I don't post here much but I am reading and appreciate all the work/intelligence that is here.
