Hello,
I'm thrilled to find this forum, as I have a Remington Rand 1911A1 and would love to find out as much as I can about it, and you folks seem very much the pros on the 1911's and the military / collector versions as well.
Thanks

Congratulations on your RR.
You might want to try photographing your pistol on a more neutral background. You really can't seem many details since the camera seems to "like" your background more than the pistol. Take a look at some of the great photos on this site and see some of the backgrounds that enhanced the photos of the guns. The other thing you might try is indirect light. A flash from the camera will often wash out the details too.

I'm guessing it's about a 2,1xx,xxx that has been re-Parkerized on the civilian market. We'll see how that holds up when we see better info. :D

Hi,
Thanks for the input!
It's in the 243XXXX range.
I'll get some better photos soon.
I don't think it's re-parked, think (hope) it's just the photo.
It has a capital G under the FP stop. (?)
Has HS/P marked bbl, etc.
I'm told by local RKI's that it's all correct, but I'm here to learn from the pros!
It looks to me unissued, DCM maybe?

Late 1945 RRands did have progressively lighter and lighter parkerization, almost to the point that they looked very light grey, or dirty silver. A good set of pictures will tell us for sure, but it seems to be OK.

Welcome to the forum. I think you get much more and better information with good detailed close-ups, as well as nice full views of the pistol from each side. I personally prefer to see the full serial number, as the way the serial number is marked helps determine whether the finish is original.
Many pistols have altered serial numbers these days.
And when you tell us your serial number is 243xxxx, that seems to indicate you are looking for the same type non-specific information...like your pistol was manufactured in xxxx and the value is about $1xxx.:)
You can trust us here. We post full numbers all the time.

Thanks, I'll work on my photography skills.
It might take a few times though.
