I carry in my vehicle, but leave it there more often than not. I worry about smash and grab thieves getting my gun. I'm a steelworker for a living, and work has been slow. I made a box to bolt to the floor under the back drivers side seat. It sticks out a little, but cannot be seen from outside the vehicle. My Safepacker (man purse) fits nicely inside and is secured by a hardened padlock. Now the guys at work want me to make them one too! I'll try to get pics up, no paint yet, but will be before it gets bolted to my carpet. My 2005 Ford SD F-250 has no room under the front seats, but the kid's seats leaves enough for this box. The opening will face the doors so when both front and back door are open, no one can see what I am doing. It is a simple design, no hinges or latches. It would take a large pair of bolt cutters and some time to get to my weapon. Most Larceny from auto thieves around here are looking for a quick grab, I think it will be safe. Also, in my [messed up] state each city has the right to post no CCW signs at the city limits, which makes this a great option. Hopefully this will change, but until then I can lock it away out of reach and be within the boundaries of their silly laws and ordnances.

I have the Cabelas one and it is first rate. I hauled it all over the place when I lived in Ohio and always felt my handgun was safe. :)
