I have read mixed pages regarding the WWI repro. Some have said it is a Colt 'custom shop' piece, while the Colt website makes no mention. Is my 01918 1911 WWI repro, a 'custom shop' pistol.... and is it a limited production run?

As to whether it is a limited run or not I am not sure.
Did your O1918 come in a blue cardboard box?

These are shipped from Colt's Custom Shop as far as I know... they are in a blue Custom Shop box with the white cardboard outer box. I cannot say with certainty that the "1918" M1911 pistols are 100% made in Colt's Custom Shop, but the box gives fair indication in my opinion!

Hi Duck,
Yes it did. Does that make it different from any other 1911 repro?

That is a custom shop box, just like the O1911's.

I did not mean to be short,
I did not know if perhaps they had changed the box with the O1918.
Hunter made some comments when the change from O1911 was announced and I do think he said it was going to be a regularly cataloged item (meaning not limited run)
As you may know, they went over what they had said they were going to produce of the O1911 and it caused some dissatisfaction. It is a good seller so I think they wanted to continue to build them, so they changed the finish and called it the O1918. With that in mind, they would not want to limit the run. At least that is my take.
Go back and do some reading of Hunters post on the subject, he will have the straight scoop.
At any rate, My O1911 is a great shooter, its accuracy belies the tiny sights and my shaky hand, I am sure your O1918 is a superb pistol regardless of whether it is a limited run or not.

Thanks again Duck,
Risking ignorance......there have to be a half dozen 'Hunter's' in the membership here.
Which one are you referring to?

There is only one "Hunter", hang around here and you will soon recognize his name. He has contributed many worthwhile articles, threads, and posts throughout this Forum and the Ezine.
The others add something to their version of the name. (I don't mean to take anything away from the others, but I'm not the only one grateful for Hunter's contributions, and he has surely earned his due.)
