I have a chance of snatching up one of these. BARELY used. It could probably be shown in a Ferrari showroom!

Now, along with a fellow shooter, I'd like to know WHY these particular models fetched more $ than a standard Colt model?

This is a pistol that from the first time I laid eyes on it, I wanted it! Almost like seeing Cindy Crawford for the first time!

I assume that you're referring to Colt's Special Combat Government in Hard Chrome, and it ain't your standard Colt model.

Straight outta Coltsmfg.com (http://www.coltsmfg.com/cmci/Special.asp).....

"This competition ready 45 ACP comes with 3 hole aluminum trigger, S&A grip safety, custom tuned action, polished feed ramp, throated barrel, flared ejection port, cut out commander hammer, two 8-round magazines, extended thumb safety, Bomar rear and Heinie dovetail front sight, and S&A magazine guide. Fully accurized and shipped with a certified target attesting to its exceptional precision."

I've never fired one, but I've held and drooled over a few at the local gun shop and gun shows and I will own one some day.

If you haven't already done so, I would recommend that you read Hunter's Review (http://ezine.m1911.org/ColtSCG.htm) of the SCG in the M1911 Pistols Organization E-zine (http://ezine.m1911.org/).

Thanks for the plug Dragline.
The Special Combat Government is a pistol to see in person to appreciate it. I have shot some high end "1911s" and the SCG is one of the finest.
For the price I look at them as a bargain.

The Special Combat Government comes in 1 of 2 finishes, one is Blue with a nickel receiver, the other is hard chrome. It has a S&A magwell, ambi safety, 3 hole trigger, adjustable sights and it feels like the trigger was tuned. It is an accurate pistol with a great trigger, light and crisp. I use mine for a combat league I shoot in. I would guess it is Colt's finest offering right now. Because of the high price of ammunition now, I use it for shooting more than my Gunsite Pistols.

DV52 the hard chrome sure is pretty, almost too pretty to shoot (almost). I have had mine out several more times and she is yet to let me down.

Well they ain't no fun if they collect dust. She can hit the bullseye better than me.It sure would be nice to have that problem(too pretty to shoot),bet if I saved up to get her one she would somehow manage to enjoy.

The SCG really is a great range gun that is very accurate. They are worth the extra few bucks. The HC is very nicely done and should wear well. Here is a pic for you.

The 2 on the left are consecutive serial #'s .45's the 2 on the right are 38Super's :eb:

It's not going to happen. The owner has had second thoughts and it's staying with him!

No biggy!
