Hello, I'm new to Colt 1911 ownership, and my sidearm is a WWI repro model 01918. I've had it to the range only once, and placed 25 rounds thru it. I've always wanted a Colt 45acp, selling my Ruger Blackhawk Bisley .45 cowboy loader to help with this purchase. This pistol feels very comfy in my oversized mitts and is deadly accurate at 25 yds. From what I've noticed, this model has been carefully reproduced and beautifully finished. One of the first things I've done since getting it, is to field strip the brand new pistol and familiarize myself with the parts. What a rugged design. I understand now how we outgunned the Germans. I also own an original (and very fickle)1918 DWM Luger. I intend to fire the snot out of my Colt, as I doubt a repro edition will ever be a collector, but maybe I'm wrong. I've enjoyed reading a lot of discussions here, and am sure I'll have a lot of questions in the future.
Thanks,
Mike

Congratulations on the new shooter and welcome to the forum, however, :wl:

Just a thought for you...

I'd also get me one of those Gold Cups and maybe a commander too, that way you won't have to "shoot the snot" out of just the Repro in case it turns out it will be a collector. :D

yeah, +1 on the commander. you might as well. you will be getting at least one more colt. when you got that 1918, you got infected with coltitis. colt laces the stocks with it when they put them on the pistols. we all have it. it is terminal and hereditary. there is no cure. so just go ahead and feed the monster.

Welcome to the forum, 1911pride! :wc:

I have the first WW1 Repro with a carbonia finish and if your O1918 is as nicely done qas mine, you have a great pistol!

Nothing against the Luger, but a 1911 should always be on top.

I agree and thought about that after I took the pic. Unfortunatley, the other pic with the 1911 on top came out darker (It was 6am).
But in the interest of American Heritage......Here's the other one.
