Just got my Commander back from Colt. They did a great job on the refinish and tightened it up quite a bit also. It was a great shooter before and I can't waite to get to the range for a test of function after their work.
It had seen many years of hard work and not the greatest care prior to joining up with me. Now it looks as good as new and while that may not make it shoot any better, it will sure increase the pride of ownership and looks in my holster or display. As with my other guns it is now in such good shape that I will maintain it in near same condition even after 20 years of service. Heck, my grandkids will be proud to get this one.
A few pics of Colts work follow.

I do not know what was done by Colt during the process of refinishing my Combat Commander but it was definitely tightened up- slide to frame fit. It shoots great, as reliable as ever but more accurate. I tried several different brands of ammo and all functioned without fault. I thought some of the cheap stuff was shooting pretty good until I put Winchester ball through it. Good groups were significantly improved and it was hitting POA at 25 yards.
Just for grins I tried to fire 5 shots in rapid succession from 8 yards to see what it would do in a more practical situation. 5 shots in 1 and 1/8 inches with 3 shots in the same raged hole. Not bad for an old gun or an old guy .
I am very pleased with Colts work and would highly recommend same to anyone needing a refinish to restore new looks to an old friend.
Packin' the CCC again.

The total cost of the refinish job was $230 including shipping from Colt to me on return. My initial shipping to Colt was extra.

Gorgeous!!! Congratulations!
I'm really impressed with how colt fixed up the corrosion on the slide. Is the slide noticably thinner than before? Thanks!

The repairs to the slide resulted in no apparent thinning of the slide or changes in its surface proportions. Great work!
