I have installed the EGW os firing pin stop and I am using a fresh 23lbs mainspring per 1911tuner. I like the results in recoil reduction but my triggger pull weight is at 5lbs with the 23lbs mainspring. I was wondering what pull weight others have on the trigger with this set up? Is it possible for a 3.5lbs trigger pull when using a 23lbs mainspring?

Yes it is. I've found that when using properly prepped ignition parts, switching from a 23 lb. to a 19 lb. mainspring only lowers the trigger pull by approximately 1/4 lb. IMO, tuning the hammer hooks, sear angles and sear spring is how you adjust the trigger pull if you are working in the range of 3.5 - 5 lbs.

Check the Poor Man's Trigger Job in the Technical Issues forum.

I have went over the poor mans trigger job and used it. I have a Wilson deluxe sear and a cylinder&slide light pull sear spring installed all ready. I also took the factory hammer and with a mill squared the hammer hooks the made the hook height .018, the original hook height was .020 and after I lowered the hook height the trigger pull weight did no change???? I don't know if I should continue to modify the parts I got or buy a all new matched set?

Hammer hook height should only have an effect on crispness and creep. Adjust sear and disconnect spring pressure with the sear spring to get the final pull desired. Perform all functional tests after adjustment to make sure the gun won't go auto on you.

I thought bending the sear spring leafs was a big no-no :nono:

There was no need to shorten the hooks. Polish the various parts, and get some extended sear and hammer pins so that you can check the interface of the sear nose with the hammer hooks. Changing the primary angle of the sear nose can lessen your trigger pull, but you shouldn't touch that until you are sure there is a problem there.

Just making small talk: I'm kinda partial to 5lb trigger pulls give or take alittle bit. I'm looking at this from a dynamic point of view, distances are short, course accuracy is used, and the time frames compressed.
