View Full Version : After Market sights

I have a 1991A1 that I have just had after market sights installed on.
At the lowest level of adjustment of the rear sight it shoots about 12 in.
high at 10 to 15 yards. The sights seem to fit well. Any suggestions, or comments would be appreciated.

Hi CFF: Welcome to the Forum.

If you just had the rear sight changed, the front sight is too short.

If you had both the front and rear sights changed - same deal - new front sight's too short.

Which did you have done and what kind of sight(s) got put on?

But, take it back to whoever put it/them on and explain the problem.

B. Bunny,
Thanks for the reply. I had millet sights both front and back installed.
I have not been able to get back to the shop that did the job for me yet.
I just thought it odd that the sights were that far off.
I will be taking the "postoli" back A.S.A.P.
I feel it was probably a wrong match for my Colt.

Thanks again

I could be wrong, but I think Millet has a couple different heights for their frt. sights.Maybe you got the wrong one?12" high sounds like an awful lot though.I put MMC adjustables on my homebrew and only needed a couple clicks to get the elevation dialed in.As an aside--I had nothing to peen the frt. sight into the slide with, but had a son at Camp Lejeune in the battalion armory.Next door was the Recon battalion that still used .45's.He brought me home a 'genuine' frt. sight staker that was probably older than both of us.It did a fine job.If you look up old drawings of 'mil-spec' tools for the .45 you'll see the staker. He was told "you're dead if you don't bring it back"!!!!

Thanks guys,

jwenum, you are exactly right about the different heights of millets front sights.
As it turns out they also have different heights for rear also.
I took niemi24s advice and took it back to the smith that installed them.
He matched them up for my colt and i'm back in business.
I was a "sick chicken" for about 14 rounds.
I really appreciate the responses.

Thanks a million till you are better paid
