I just acquired this piece, has anyone ever seen one? I have seen several commander slides on officers frames. It is stainless with Colt MK IV series 80 with rampant on left of slide. Colt officers ACP on right of slide, and is also a mat finish plain non serrated flat top with polished sides. The frame has polished sides with serial FC13926E. I am wondering if it came this way or has someone taken a commander and an officers and made two customs out of them? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Colt made an CCO Concealed Carry Officer 45acp With a 4.25" barrel on an Officers frame. The Colt officers ACP is a 3.5" barrel on a Officers frame.
Are you sure that the gun you have is not 3.5" barrel?

It is the officers slide 3.5" barrel on a commander frame!

Oh! I have a factory issued Colt Commanding Officers, which has an Officers slide on a Commander frame. Colt made a number of different series models in that configuration. Usually making 500 to 550 guns per model name designation.

However, you can find out for sure if it is a factory issue, by calling Colt at: 1-800- 962-2658 and provide them with the serial number.

Good Luck!

Colt can also provide you with the year mfg. And the number of guns made in that model.

So what you are saying is the magazine holds 7 rounds instead of 6?

There are people here that can tell you the insides and outs of Colts, and hopefully will chime in here sometime, but IIRC, what you are describing makes me think of the Colt Tank Officers, but I thought they were stamped with that. This one may just be a mixmaster.

EDIT: Rich you are probably right, I do remember the Colt Commanding Officer model too. That fits, because I remember the Tank Officers Model to be parked or blued.

I don't believe that is factory.

Me too OD*, like I said in the last post, I thought if it were such as the Commanding Officer, or Tank Officer, it would say it on the slide.

Just spoke with rep at Colt manufactured in 1995 with 3.5" barrel and commander frame! Model #04012DAE

That's interesting. Did you happen to ask about the trigger, sights, grip safety and ambi safety?

She would only give me the model and confirm that the slide and frame configuration is correct. More or less I thing wanted me to pay the $100 to get a letter of authenticity!

I am sorry I tend to forget that there are those who cannot come to an intelligent conclusion with sufficient information.

It's mainly that we like to see pictures of Colts - much more than insults from new members.

Groo here
I always though that this configeration was one of the best as it allowed
a grip that was easy to hold and standard mags with a slide short
enough to allow you to sit in a car or truck with worry that the gun would
put a hole in the seat
I had a commander fit with an officers slide in 38 super
that was very easy to shoot and carry.
