My wife and I shot 75 rounds FMJ through my new New Agent. No problems feeding and firing. The only quirk is the ejected brass hits us in the head. This happens one or two rounds per mag. Does this happen with anyone else?
Go ahead and get your smart alec remarks out of the way and give me some possible solutions.

Fire and duck quickly! :p Ok, that's over! Your extractor needs tuning, see: http://www.m1911.org/technic2.htm
Best of Luck!

Rich-D nailed it. If you don't want to fix it yourself send it to Colt for adjustment. I found Colt to be quick and painless dealing with them. If it where me I'd just keep shooting, but that's because I'm a lefty and have had semi auto ejected brass bouncing off my forehead for years.

Thanks
My wife is right handed and I am a lefty. She gets hit more often than I do.
I will not try anything beyond cleaning. I will wait until we get another pistol and send it to Colt.
My wonderful wife suggested that we should start shooting. Now she says we should stiff the family at Christmas so we can get another pistol. Am I lucky or what.

Sounds like you found a keeper. :D
I will say that you need to make sure that you have a good grip on that size gun, if you get lazy with them they will bring it to your attention.
;)
A bad extractor is also a good way to get back at any of those gun commando types... "hey can you shoot this gun and tell me what you think"? :D :D I have found you can draw blood in less than a magazine. :D

I was shooting yesterday and got at least 2 pieces of brass that managed to get in my shirt. When I got home, I detail stripped the pistol for a good cleaning and found that the extractor was heavily caked with gunk. I think that's why mine was tossing brass like that. Mine never did this before and I'm sure that is why it started doing this.

While Rick-D's diagnosis may be correct, what I would check first, is if your extractor is clocking inside its tunnel. In other words, if it is turning. Try to insert a round under the extractor claw from underneath it, while you are watching the face of the extractor at the rear of the slide. If you can see the extractor turning while the rim of the round moves up under the claw, your culprit is your firing pin stop, not your extractor.

I cleaned my New Agent and put 100 rounds through her. The brass ejection is better. I did not get hit in the head or face once. Hit my right shoulder a couple of times. I will not try to fix what ain't broke.
The web of my shooting hand sure get sore. I did not bleed but it made me quit after a 100 rounds.
I love this pistol sore hand and all.

You may find also that a little firmer wrist, which may reduce muzzle flip, might help eliminate problem. Something to try.

You may want to look into a beavertail grip safety.
