Hi all,

first im going to apologize because im new to all this. I am looking to purchase my first gun, and love the design of the 1911. I shot one this weekend and want one now. I really like the look of the 1911 .38 super in the bright stainless finish that Colt offers. Anything about this gun i should know about?

also im a bit confused on the whole single action routine on a semi auto pistol. Do you have to keep cocking that gun everytime you want to fire it? Or is it you have to cock it once, then the recoil cocks it again?

Thank you all in advance! :D

Welcome my friend! A single action gun you only have to cock it once and the recoil will cock it again until you run out of round in your mag. You reload the mag and just rack the slide and you are good to go again. The colt 38 super is a really nice gun, especially in bright stainless steel. I dont own one, but have shot them and have no complaints.
Good Luck!

Welcome to the forum! :wc:

One of the first Colt's I bought was a bright stainless Super 38. The ammunition is a bit pricey for the Super 38, but you will find some sales from time to time. If you begin to reload, it costs about as much as 9mm to reload because it is very similar to 9mm. You just need Super 38 brass and the other components and you're off to the races. You can purchase that Colt usually at Buds Gunshop and ammunition from Natchez Shooters Supply. That's where I bought mine from.

Here is a picture of mine, I have buffalo horn, Colt medallion stocks on it now, but I don't have a current picture. This one is from a year ago or so. The lines on the slide are a reflection of the telephone and power lines overhead.

Welcome to the forum. The "1911" is a great pistol and the Colt you are looking at is about the best place to start.
The Super .38 cartridge is one of my favorite.
