I couldn't help not posting a picture of my new Combat Elite. Unfortunately it took two tries to get a keeper. My first suffered from numerous quality control issues (most have been mentioned). Luckily I bought the first through Davidson's so I had the dealer send it back for a replacement. This one is a 10!!

I replaced the plastic mainspring housing with a checkered Smith & Alexander, I then upgraded the recoil spring to 18 1/2 pounds and then swapped the grips for some Ahrends Tactical grips which I sent to Randy Svetlik to have the silver medallions mounted. I was going for a cross between the old and new versions. It is a great pistol!!

Nice......glad it's a 10. I wonder why you put a 18.5LB spring in when the standard is 16LB ?

That is a good looking Colt but like Paul asked why did you put an 18.5" pound recoil spring in it?

My department issues our off duty ammo. They give us +P loads. My 1911s seem to function better (smoother felt recoil etc...) with 18.5 pound springs than the stock 16 pound with the hotter loads. I also don't run any shock buffs either. My next step is to dump the guide rod for the stock gi set up.
