Have you fired the gun? Is there a feeding problem? Polishing the feed ramp is not a good idea. Unless it is done by a professional, or a person who is knowledgeable and skilled.

For knowledge and technical issues on the 1911 go to:

Follow the menu on the left!

There's generally no need to polish the feed ramp or otherwise tinker with the gun, unless it's not running right. And if it's not running right, sometimes polishing the feed ramp is the right thing to do, and sometimes it isn't. It depends on what the problem is.

We have a lot of knowledgeable folks around here, so if you can provide more information, someone might be able to help.

The feed ramp on the frame is not an area where the round "slides", the round bounces off that area and into the chamber. Usually, there is no need to polish that area. Fire the gun and come back to us if you have any issues. Changes are (and strong chances I could say) that you won't have any issues.
